Scaling Organic Search for BUBS Naturals: 321K Clicks, 43.7M Impressions
Brand & Market Context
BUBS Naturals is a functional wellness brand built around simple, clean supplements—spanning categories like Collagen Peptides, Hydration/Electrolytes, Creatine, MCT creamers, Apple Cider Vinegar, and Vitamin C.
What makes the brand especially distinctive is its origin story: inspired by Glen “BUB” Doherty, with a mission rooted in adventure, wellness, and giving back—supported by the brand’s “10% Rule” (donating 10% of profits to charity).
By the time FlyRank engaged, BUBS had strong products and loyalty signals, but its organic discovery potential for high-intent, non-branded searches (e.g., collagen use-cases, hydration for training, creatine performance) wasn’t fully translating into consistent growth.
Diagnostic Findings
A full SEO diagnostic revealed a familiar pattern for fast-growing DTC brands:
-
Category + product discovery gaps: key collections and PDPs weren’t capturing as much non-branded demand as they could.
-
Topical organization opportunity: BUBS already had a major education layer (notably “All About Collagen Peptides”), but needed clearer semantic clustering + internal pathways to turn informational visibility into product/category momentum.
-
Indexation and crawl focus: as content scaled, keeping Google consistently focused on the right templates and pages became a priority (especially for Shopify-style ecosystems with many URL variants).
The objective was straightforward: turn the site into a compounding organic growth engine while protecting brand voice, compliance, and conversion UX.
The Bubs Naturals Growth Blueprint
We implemented a tailored strategy built on three pillars—similar to the blueprint approach used in the reference case study.
1) Technical SEO + Indexation Control
We strengthened crawl efficiency and indexation clarity by:
-
tightening canonical and internal linking signals (so Google prioritizes revenue-driving collections and PDPs),
-
reducing template-generated “noise” URLs where applicable,
-
improving sitemap structure and discovery cadence to support scaling.
2) Semantic Architecture (Topic Clusters That Actually Convert)
BUBS already invests in education (especially around collagen).
We leaned into that advantage by building connected topic clusters that map to commercial intent:
-
Pillar hubs: Collagen, Electrolytes/Hydration, Creatine, MCT
-
Cluster layers: benefits, timing, comparisons, use-cases, “for X audience” modifiers (athletes, runners, recovery, etc.)
-
Bridge paths: every informational cluster routes users (and link equity) toward the most relevant collection/PDP + FAQ sections
3) Scalable Content Deployment (Quality + Repeatable Systems)
To scale without sacrificing quality:
-
we introduced repeatable content templates and editorial rules (compliance-safe language, consistent structure, stronger snippet targeting),
-
refreshed and consolidated overlapping topics,
-
added structured elements (FAQs, definitions, comparison blocks) to improve rich-result eligibility.
Performance After the Rollout
Results were immediate and compounding.
Across the measured period, organic performance climbed from:
-
47.2K clicks → 321K clicks (+580% / 6.8×)
-
3.15M impressions → 43.7M impressions (+1,287% / 13.9×)
-
Average position improved from 17.8 → 8.3 (moving many priority terms onto page 1)
As content and technical signals stabilized, Google’s processing footprint expanded as well:
Key Drivers of Success
Technical Precision That Protects Scale
Clearer indexation signals + improved internal pathways helped Google consistently prioritize high-value pages—supporting faster discovery and steadier rankings.
Topic Clusters That Build Authority (and Revenue)
Rather than publishing disconnected articles, we organized content into connected hubs that reinforced topical authority and routed users to product outcomes—especially important in competitive supplement SERPs.
Structured Content That Wins More SERP Real Estate
By expanding FAQs, comparisons, and intent-matching headings, the site became more eligible for enhanced listings and richer snippets—improving both visibility and quality of clicks.
A Brand Story That Strengthens Trust
BUBS’ mission-driven positioning (inspired by Glen “BUB” Doherty and the 10% Rule) adds authenticity—supporting conversion once SEO brings the right users to the site.
What’s Next
With the foundation in place, the roadmap focuses on compounding gains:
-
CTR growth sprint: title/meta testing on the highest-impression URLs; snippet upgrades (FAQ/schema alignment).
-
Commercial landing page expansion: “for recovery,” “for runners,” “for joints,” “travel packs,” etc. mapped to real query demand.
-
Content pruning + consolidation: merging near-duplicate topics to concentrate authority.
-
International and seasonal scaling: hydration peaks, New Year fitness, summer endurance, gifting periods.
